ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, Perplexity, Kimi, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Google AI Studio and Tencent Yuanbao — eleven platforms. NotebookLM and Google Search AI Mode don’t expose a conversation list, so they remain single-chat exports via the browser extension.
Never. The desktop app drives the browser extension, and the extension reads conversations through your normal logged-in session in your own browser. The app never sees your credentials.
Any automated access carries some risk, and we won’t pretend otherwise. XWX Backup mitigates it seriously: conservative pacing (~6 seconds per item), randomized intervals, cooldown pauses every 100 items, per-platform risk levels and automatic 429 back-off. You can slow things down further in Settings. Still, the honest answer is that platforms could restrict automated access — export responsibly.
No. Conversation data flows from your browser to the desktop app on your machine. The only regular network traffic is checking for signed app updates.
Nothing happens to your local copy — that’s the point. Once a conversation is in your vault, it stays there regardless of what happens on the platform side.

Yes — and it's the recommended way to install it. The Store version is signed by Microsoft and updates automatically in the background. You can also download the .exe installer directly from GitHub; it's the same app, but Windows may show a security warning for the unsigned direct download.
